- General Contractor types A, B, and C will require passing ICC testing results for the 2018 edition or later (G11, G12, or G13)
- EXAMPLES of ICC test results:
- Mechanical Contractors will require passing ICC testing results of a minimum of the
Journeyman Mechanical G31 (G29 will also be accepted)

- Additionally, please note that any test results older than this will require the individual to retake the test and provide updated passing ICC test results.
Per the Louisville Municipal Code Chapter 5.12.090, if a contractor is to be employed for a building project, he/she must be licensed with the City of Louisville and listed on the building permit.
- Apply for a Contractor's License through our online portal.
- The ICC test holder or the Master License holder must have their own login to the CSS portal with their direct email address and cell number. You can have more than one login associated with a license.
- Licenses must be applied AND paid for at the same time in order for staff to receive your application.
- When your license has been approved, the applicant will receive an email that the license has been issued.
- You will not be able to view your license until the Building Department has reviewed your application and payment.
- You will receive an email that your license has been issued once your application and payment have been approved. To see a PDF version of your license, click on the print icon.
- Our process time for online submittals is typically same day or next business day
